Post Malone may be young, but he can rap with the best of them. Starting out his set at the Roseland Theater in Portland, OR with he made a toast, Budweiser in hand, to some of the rap legends that have left us too young. At 21 years old, Post Malone is making the statement that he’s a young rapper that’s here to stay. That’s easy to believe, seeing that he’s already collaborated with 2 Chainz, and to name a few.

Given that this show was on a Tuesday, it was up in the air about what the vibe would be like. However the second opener Jazz Cartier got the energy flowing by inviting two fans on stage and instructed them to crowd dive, followed a few minutes later by him diving himself. In between sets there was a DJ keeping the crowd entertained and ready to see Post Malone. And to be honest I was surprised by how much fun Post Malone was to watch. Maybe it can be attributed to his age, but he was jumping up and down and engaging with his fans as much as he could. That’s one of the reasons why I love watching young musicians, they are so psyched to share their music and don’t care as much about being serious.

Post Malone will be on the Hollywood Dreams Tour through November 9th in the U.S. and until December internationally. You can find out if he’s coming to your city here.
