Icelandic singer-songwriter and record producer Laufey brought her “Bewitched” tour to San Francisco for three consecutive sold-out nights this past week. We had the pleasure of attending the Thursday show and to say we were left bewitched would be an understatement. Laufey delicately infuses notes of pop and bossa nova into her jazzy songs and Thursday’s show at The Masonic in San Francisco, CA illuminated Laufey’s timeless vibe.

The set was carefully crafted with a shining star backdrop and various glowy lights that went on and off throughout the show. Accompanying Laufey for the majority of her set was an ensemble consisting of cello, piano, drums, and guitar. Throughout the magical night, Laufey played a variety of songs from her second studio album, Bewitched, and also her first album, Everything I Know About Love. Halfway through her set, Laufey talked to the audience about “Goddess,” her newest single and the song’s music video. The video, which had debuted earlier that day, was directed by Celine Song, who directed the critically acclaimed A24 film, Past Lives. Before singing the track, Laufey expressed her admiration for Celine Song and went into detail about how she was inspired to write the song after dating a boy who had trouble understanding her on and off-stage personas.

Laufey’s encore was a tender fan-favorite, “Letter to My 13 Year Old Self,” in which the singer beautifully details her childhood insecurities and struggles. Throughout the night, fans swayed along to Laufey’s heartfelt lyrics and left the show with a new appreciation for jazz and string instruments.

We hope you enjoy the photos we captured and make sure to check out the evening’s setlist below. Laufey’s upcoming tour dates are available here.
