Few bands today are bringing the level of creativity and quirkiness and attention to detail to their music videos as Lime Cordiale. Track after track, the boys from Sydney continue to raise the bar with visuals that not only showcase their catchy sound and masterful instrumentation, but also show off their unique style and retro aesthetic.

Currently, the band is on tour in the US (and then Europe) with upcoming stops in Brooklyn at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on March 30, Chicago at the Bottom Lounge on April 5, San Diego at the Music Box on April 20, and many, many more in between. Tickets for those shows, and the entire tour, can be found here.

If you happen to not be in one of the cities Lime Cordiale is visiting though, or you just want to get a quick preview of the dance moves and vibes to come before seeing them on stage, we’ve picked our three favorite music videos from their vast collection to give a small taste.

“Country Club”

Never been to Europe? Don’t worry, Lime Cordiale will take you on a tour of some of the most photogenic spots, all in the style of Wes Anderson meets Saltburn.

About the track, co-frontman Oli Leimbach said in a press release that “Country Club” sees the band “imagine the downfall of a highly privileged character with no sense of the cushy world that surrounds them”. If that hasn’t sold you, the video, directed by longtime collaborator Jack Sheppard, ends with a masterful clarinet solo that will make any former band-geek smile.

“Imposter Syndrome”

In addition to being one of our favorite Lime Cordiale songs, “Imposter Syndrome” also is one of our favorite videos because of the way it evokes OK Go with the stylized, funky aesthetic.

Lime Cordiale released “Imposter Syndrome” as their first single of 2023, followed by “Op Shop Lover” (with Grentperez) and “Pedestal”. It has the iconic Australian indie-pop sounds that American fans will know and recognize, and the clean video (also directed by Jack Sheppard) really shows off the band’s style and cheeky sense of humor.

“Apple Crumble”

“Apple Crumble” is a weird song from 2021 that features actor Idris Elba, and the music video, not surprisingly, is a weird video that features Idris Elba.

The cut-and-paste collage style video feels a bit more like a visualizer, and was directed and produced by Joe Neathway Brown. It matches the song perfectly, which sounds a bit like The Gorillaz and pushes the limits of what Lime Cordiale’s music typically evokes.
