Having announced the event two weeks prior, Metro Boomin’s show at The Pageant included the tagline “and friends” which increased anticipation about the artists who would make a special appearance. The show at The Pageant was scheduled the night before the “We Trust You” Tour featuring Metro Boomin and Future. The show at The Pageant was sure to be a more intimate experience for the fans.
As soon as Metro Boomin took the stage, the crowd went wild. Metro Boomin opened with “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” featuring catchy vocals from Kanye West. The crowd was roaring as Metro Boomin continued to drop hits such as “Bad and Boujee,” “Metro Spider,” and “Too Many Nights.”
After warming up the crowd, Metro Boomin introduced his first “friend”, with many more to come. Metro Boomin commented that this particular guest had never played in Saint Louis before, so this was a treat for the crowd. As soon as “Minute” hit the speakers, NAV took to the stage and played four songs with Metro Boomin.
Shortly after his set with NAV, Metro Boomin announced his second friend, frequent collaborator 21 Savage. The response from the crowd was palpable. You could feel the energy as soon as 21 Savage hit the stage with “No Heart.” Together, Metro Boomin and 21 Savage played around 10 songs together.
As soon as 21 Savage exited the stage, Metro Boomin announced his third friend, who had brought many friends of his own. The familiar tune of “E.I.” hit the crowd with instant nostalgia as Nelly and the St. Lunatics took the stage. Nelly and the St. Lunatics played well-known classics, such as “Ride Wit Me” and “Air Force Ones.” Nelly’s guest appearance ended with a special moment when Metro Boomin expressed his gratitude for Nelly and the St. Lunatics for paving the way and putting Saint Louis on the map.
Last but certainly not least, Metro Boomin announced his fourth and final friend of the night, who happened to be his touring partner. Future walked out on stage to “Superhero” from their collaboration on the album “Heroes and Villains.” The crowd maintained their high energy as Metro Boomin and Future ran through several of their popular collaborations, such as “Mask Off,” “Monster,” and “Like That.” The set concluded with “Type Shit” and a blast of confetti.
Metro Boomin’s highly anticipated special show for Saint Louis will be talked about for years to come. It was truly a night to remember!
