Tegan and Sara are in the middle of playing not two, not three, but four Southern California shows over the course of the week, starting in Ventura on 11/11, then San Diego on 11/12, Anaheim on 11/13 and soon The Fonda in LA on 11/15. Their tour features a mix of songs from Crybaby, their tenth studio album released this past October, and throwback hits from their decade-spanning career.

In Anaheim at the House of Blues, after an opening set from Tomberlin the twins took the stage both sporting cozy outfits and chunky boots. The stage was decked out with Crybaby‘s ice cream imagery, and the opening combo of 2016’s “Stop Desire” and Crybaby’s “I Can’t Grow Up” set the tone for an upbeat, energetic show. It’s no surprise that songs like “Boyfriend” and “Walking With a Ghost” got the crowd jumping, but recent single “Yellow” did just as good of a job.

The crowd in Anaheim represented all ages, all genders and all styles. From the diehard fans in the front row to the longtime fans towards the back at their fifth, sixth or seventh Tegan and Sara show, everyone sang-along and for the most part, stayed engaged with phones away and eyes towards the stage. On stage, Tegan and Sara seemed equally happy to be there. On their first tour in half a decade, the sisters are certainly seasoned performers yet eager to see new faces in the crowd and sing new songs.
